An arrangement of Schumann’s Pictures from the East is the centerpiece of this arresting, affecting program from Latvian-born Gidon Kremer and his Kremerata Baltica ensemble. Accompanied by an animated film by Sandro Kancheli featuring the haunting, ephemeral stone sculptures of Syrian artist Nizar Ali Badr, Images of the East is a powerful example of artists using their influence and ability to shine a light on the social issues of our day.
